The AK-47, also called the Kalashnikov after its inventor, is one of the most successful industrial products of all time. Since its introduction in 1947, an estimated 80 million AK-47s have been built. Its success is based not only on its resourceful construction, but also its affordable production, dependability, functionality and high demand. The AK-47 is one of the icons of the twentieth century, but it is also a deadly weapon. For a new art project, the designer Martin Postler has investigated the history, the aesthetics and the lethal seductiveness of the Kalashnikov. He has freed the AK-47 from its terrible capacity to injure and kill by deconstructing it into a paper model construction set. When putting the detailed model together, the builder is automatically confronted with the Kalashnikov and its significance both historical and personal. At the end of the construction process each person can decide if they would like to hang their own AK-47 on the wall, paint it, customize it with stickers or simply burn it. Then ultimately this AK-47 thankfully remains a piece of paper. Not recommended for people under age 18. Recommended for experienced crafters. Construction time depends on handcrafting abilities. Does not contain glue and cutter. If you're gonna play with guns, use paper ones!

I bought three of these, thinking they'd look great mounted on my wall. And they probably would have had I ever been able to assemble them.
It's odd. There must be something about the number three because I see others did exactly the same. I'd hoped to mount them as they were, white card, one above the other on a white wall - but I quickly realised that was never going to happen.
Fiddley is not the word. You need an engineering degree (or a Blue Peter badge) to even begin to contemplate putting these things together. It's super difficult and the instructions are pretty poor too which doesn't help.
It's takes forever to cut out the shapes with a scalpel (which are organised in a fairly illogical sequence to save on card), and one little slip of the blade or mistake sticking the pieces together and the whole model is ruined.
I bought three - messed up two. Didn't even entertain wasting another three weekends on the third so chucked it out in a fit of rage. It was lucky the guns where paper, because I was so angered by them, someone would have been shot.
Very disappointed with product and price - have bought better card models for a lot less. Model is very basic - do not be deceived by the photo - do not recommend.
Ok you have to cut out the shapes yourself and it takes quite a few days to make it but when its done, wow! I painted it matt black then sprayed it with a gloss laquer then I took it home, (made it at work) and the reaction was amazing. My two daughters, both in their teens thought it was real as did my wife who was about to give me a right bollocking for buying a gun, until I gave her it to hold.. LMAO its as light as a feather.
WARNING THOUGH. This model is very realistic looking, take my advice, dont take it outdoors, seriously, you might regret it.
