I bought this particular light as I have started night time forest trail blazing and I wanted a cheap light in case it came a cropper whilst riding. I managed to get 2 hours on medium setting, with still some life left in the batteries so for the price and the brightness I am very happy with this light. Not as bright as in the picture but close. Would I buy another? Yes would be the answer.

Cons: Rubber straps don't prevent the lamp from moving down after hitting a few tree roots so after a few bumps you have to adjust the lamp, could do with a more secure mounting to the bike. Please if your listening make a proper mount.

This light it certainly bright, but I used it twice and it died on the second time out leaving me stranded in the dark 3 miles from home (after a 5 hour charge). Now it won't charge at all. It is going back, no offer of a replacement, so I'll look for a different one.

I'll update this review once I've used this light again, but so far I am amazed with every aspect of this light. I purchased this light at the same time as an Exposure Diablo (mk5), both arrived on the same date. This light cost £20, the Diablo £180 from CRC.

My initial thoughts were amazement. The build quality of this light is unbelievable. Even the battery pack is much better quality than what is pictured. Sturdy thick cabling and solid metal housing. There is an awesome green ring on the inside of the light that glows after use (like the luminescence in a watch). The charger was a UK charger and felt like a good quality charger until it exploded! I'll touch on that in a second. As a quick summary, for £20, you really can't go wrong. The build quality, externally at least, is on par with my £180 Diablo. Even if you're just wanting a cheap light for roads, with the battery pack, it will last a lot longer and outshine any any expensive light that they over sell in Halfords or the like. And yes, it is as bright as the picture advertises.

Comparing the Diablo to this £20 baby:
1) This light has a colder blue light than the Diablo
2) There is a central brighter focus with this light, but a very wide peripheral spread. The Diablo has a further reach, but honestly only just. This light lit up trees 30-40m in the distance like Christmas trees.
3) The low function (one light) isn't bright enough for fast trails, but is more than enough for ascending, and the middle function would be enough for most predictable trails.
4) Heat wise, the Diablo started getting pretty warm after about 3 minutes, where as this light was still cold on the outside.

Best buy of the year. These lights a ultra bright, have 3 settings and you can see clearly left, right and in front. They are so powerful that you will be seen, be safe even at speed.

Not tested duration, but I expect to be as stated.

Well, it is very bright. So the kids like it for lighting the garden to play in the dark and quite handy around the house. But I wanted to use it for night biking along river- in the woods- keen to know if a branch will hit me in the face or one of Richmond's deer try to mate me etc. I use my bike all the time for commuting too.

I'm not ready to give up on it yet but all this in 1 week and 2 uses;
1. Fell off the bike 2nd time I used it. Lost the screw holding the attachment to light (well - it was dark!).
2. Head torch is no way going to fit as well as a helmet. Impossible.
3. Bike attachment is not good enough for vigorous biking on my mountain bike. Maybe good enough for road biking but frankly this light is too bright for road biking in a town or city- get the one linked below.
4. There are so many BITS- I'm going to lose more of them (or one of kids will). Kinda fatal flaw I think.
5. Fitting it involves dropping bits in the dark. Grrrr.
6. One of the LEDs has failed meaning I've lost 2 settings (min and max). Grrrr. I'm going to get a refund.
7. WAY too fiddly for daily commuting. So I got this which does the job of being very bright- makes people think twice and actually lights the way enough on an OK path; http://www.amazon.co.uk/CATEYE-Volt-300-Cycle-Light/dp/B00DQSI3XY. It also can be left on the bike and actually doesn't fall off and never will. Hurrah. BUT I still want something to go night time biking in the pitch dark in a wood or down a track with wide light dispersal and CatsEye above is NOT it - despite being excellent it isn't bright enough for confident off-road biking. I'm not spending hundreds though on something I'm not going to do that often. Although it's really fun!

You simply can't get a brighter light for the money at the moment. 3 CREE LEDs that can be set to a level of 1, 2, or 3 LEDs. The single mode is not as bright as the single CREE version of this, so battery life is good with this mode. I've used the battery pack for an easy 2 hours of commuting without issue thus far.

The rubber band to attach the light isn't that strong - so I have adapted a jubilee clip to hold this in place more firmly. To do this, get the right size jubilee clip and drill a 5mm hole in it, then replace the machine screw in the bottom of the unit with a slightly longer version. The jubilee clip can then be tightened up and the unit is a lot stronger as a result.

Surprisingly, the battery pack can fit on my rear pannier and it's still long enough to reach the handlebars.

A great product - the LEDs are super bright and easily light up 30m ahead, even off roading. I think there is not enough warning of a low battery though. As soon as the ring turns red it switches off.

I recommend the wide angle lens for it, which retail at about a fiver C&B SEEN WIDE ANGLE/DIFFUSER LENS FOR 1000/1200 LUMEN BIKE LIGHTS - especially if commuting to give a better spread and avoid dazzling others.
