This book was recommended to me by my son's ADHD centre and it has been really helpful. I have lent this book to my son's teachers at school and have trouble getting back from them as so many teachers want to read it. Brilliant information helping you to understand what goes on with some one with ADHD and how you can help them

As a specialist in diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in adults, I found this book to be absolutely excellent in setting out all the issues around diagnosis, treatment options and would seriously recommend it to anyone who wants to know a lot about this most common of neurodevelopmental disorders. An easy read, but an essential and comprehensive one.

Surprisingly thorough and good read 11 Oct 2006

Format: Paperback
I was reluctant to pick up a book with "for Dummies" in the title because I do not believe that I am a dummy! However, a lot of the books on ADHD that I found either focused too much on ADHD in childhood or had too many long anecdotes/ case studies. This book was an excellent introduction to ADHD. It took the disorder seriously and laid out every aspect on diagnosis, treatment, familial issues, etc. in a simple manner. The information provided was eye-opening, and the book was full of details that showed the depth of this disorder. This book never gave the impression that ADHD is just a collection of undesirable behaviors or laziness or what have you. It's a terrific reference book.

My son has adhd and I was looking for something that can teach me more on how to raise him and teach him. This book is awesome! It has suggestions on how to discipline, special diets to cut out more sugars, and a lot more. It has let me see what it's like for him living with adhd also. If you are a parent struggling to raise your adhd child this is a good read. I highly recommend it.

I don't think this book is worth readying. The information was very basic and could be found online. There are many other books out there that are worth reading.
