Although it was actually the first X-Men film that ushered in the current wave of (mostly) quality superhero films, the best the video game world has ever had to shout about is the Spider-Man games. This could all be about to change though as X-Men: Legends looks to be one of the first games to both do justice to its source and play a decent game at the same time.
Rather than being a simplistic fighting game, X-Men: Legends is actually an action role-playing game cum real-time strategy. The game is viewed from an overhead perspective and you get to take control of a team of four X-Men, chosen from a wider range of the comics best and brightest. You can only control one character at a time though, with the others following along behind and reacting to danger semi-autonomously.
You always have full control of the mood and tactics of all your team members though, being able to set them as passive or aggressive as well as choosing their formation and position in the team. Each level also features multiple "extraction points" so you can quickly swap new team members into your group and generally you're given as much control over strategy and tactics as you could wish.
It's always nice to see a company trying something a bit different with a license and, although both graphics and gameplay do occasionally appear a little simplistic, X-Men and RPG fans alike should find plenty to enjoy here. -- David Jenkins

X-Men: Legends features favourite characters from the powerhouse Marvel franchise in an immersive action RPG. The story begins when the X-Men learn that Magneto, their greatest adversary, has devised a plan to give mutants the power to reign supreme over humans. The X-Men are then forced to battle Magneto to prevent global chaos and stop their foes from imprisoning the human race. In order to save the world from certain destruction, players must build the perfect X-Men team by recruiting new members and deciding how best to upgrade their powers and abilities. Players will need to choose the best combination of heroes to tackle each unique obstacle as they face a threat that could destroy all of mankind.
Gamers can pick their favourite X-Men character and upgrade each character's attributes to create their perfect team. Recruiting from 15 different heroes including Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey, players gain experience, upgrade their team, characters and unlock new abilities to aid in the quest. X-Men: Legends also features a multi-branching, mission-based storyline that allows for abundant replay value. Players can play solo or cooperatively with up to three friends as they battle evil mutants. Dynamic joining allows new players to become part of the adventure at any time during the game.

At last an X-Men game thats good. Choosing a team of 4 X-Characters (From 15 unlockable characters) you get to take on the Brotherhood, Morlocks and Sentinals in a variaty of landscapes.
The games creaters have mixed together the Ultimate X-verse and the normal Marvel universe to create a fresh but familar feeling that sits right for the game. The game itself is RPG (destroy enough enemies to grow and then choose new attributes)/team based (choose the right characters to complete the task) but one annoying feature is that Wolverine seems to level up faster than other characters, he is the only "all rounder" type character and you have to start out as him.
Other features include amazing cutscenes, collectable comics/concept art and a battle mode (where you can fight another player - sadly not XBox Live).
I'm a big fan of Marvel Comics and loved this game, its worth picking up just to play the 70's Sentinal level).

This game is inetresting, in that it works like a slightly changed Diablo II, you have a variety of characters to control. Each character comes with only four abilities that get stronger and bigger, but then consider that you control four at once, and suddenly the game gets a lot bigger. And it does it quickly. All the faves are here, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey. Jean Grey becoming more fun in later levels, when you pick up cars and throw them at sentinels, if you so wish.
That graphics are somewhat chunky, not so much that you notice during the game, but during cutscsenes you'll be wondering why they all have flippers for hands.
Overall the game is fun, and people looking for a fun game that will keep them enetertained I would easily recommend this game too. Graphics aren't cutting edge, but they don't need to be when a games just goddam fun without breaking any new ground.

First game that is well above average wich is based on a comix license. I'ts a bit like Baldur's series but with several differences, begining with the graphics that has a nice mix of 2D cell-shading and 3D, it real gets the comix feel. The plot is a bit more ellaborate that the usual for a video game, and it's quite well written. You manage to play with a all bunch of X-men official and not-official members, and all of then are well made graphically and biographicaly. The only down bit, is that it's a bit too easy: an avarage player will manage to play the all game without having to replay a single level, but the last boss, wich on the other hand manage too get bit didicult (out of the blue). The game is well balanced, with lots of action and with nice relaxing and discovering moments, it should give you something like 20 hours of pure play pleasure.
Anyway, I'll definetly buy X-Legends II.

Do not overlook
X-men legends is not that bad. It is basically a platform beat 'em up and it does a pretty good job of sticking to the basics. Read more

I just finished playing it and WHOA!

hmm average
