Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Preview

There cannot be a Spidey fan alive that hasn’t seen the stunning movie trailer for the new film, but rather less is known about the accompanying game. It will feature a free roaming environment similar to the previous games though, which is no surprise considering how popular they are and how most subsequent superhero games have reused the same concept. It’s also known that almost the entire movie cast will be lending their vocal talents to the game, including Tobey Mcguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard. The main villains of the game will, like the movie, be Sandman, Venom and the new Green Goblin. However several other minor Spider-Man villains will also appear from the comics, including Shriek and the mysterious Dragon Boss. More information will undoubtedly show up as the movie’s release date grow closer but a teaser trailer of the in-game graphics for Spidey himself suggest that this will be one of the most impressive next gen movies license so far.

not very good 27 July 2009
Fun:
This game is rubbish.all of the other reviews are wrong because some say this is perfect game from 7-11 year olds but actually if you look close say if you hit a thug there will be some blood so do beware.anyway this game can be enjoyable but not so much when you progress there is a few extra touches but not really a great game boring actually.it may be a bargain but it is not exactly worth it.

Fun:
an overview from me. its my 6 yr olds game, but i love watching him play. other reviews seem fair. after seeing the previous spiderman games i realised this one is glossy, polished but actually not as fun as sp.2 or friend or foe, theres just not as much to do. the moves are more limited. despite being 'freeroaming' i found, as one reviewer pointed out, i felt disconnected from the story because theres no real interaction with the city or people. they just walk through you and through the vehicles. you dont go into the buildings. its an impressive piece of software, but the involvement i felt with spiderman friend or foe was far more. spiderman2 was diverse and detailed. go with the other games before this.

Fun:
Spidey's reaction time is WAY TOO SLOW! You press the X button and he thinks about jumping. You want to change direction? Tough - you'll just have to wait till the animation has played out before your swing button works. In a game all about movement, such failings are totally unforgivable. I deeply regretted buying this game.

There is 1 real improvement in this game over Spiderman 2 for the PS2 - Spidey's movements are FAR more graceful and fluid this time 'round... BUT because he feels ALOT slower this time round, his newfound athleticism is not enough to make it a worthwhile purchase.

It takes forever to cross the landscape. Spidey always seems to be moving downhill; the arc of his swing feels really inhibited and awkward, which is a crying shame. Boohoo!
Touching the ground is made weirdly difficult - providing you have the swing button pressed he'll frequently swing from thin air!(?)
Getting to the top of building is frustratingly tricky to do quickly - which is pointless if you are SPIDERMAN!!!

Having made it clear that I hate this game - especially when comparing it with the much more responsive, amusing and EXITING Spiderman 2, what I don't know is if it plays any better on the PS3...
I concede that if you're new to the genre you might well enjoy this B-list game for what it is; an A-list pretender that lets you swing around a colourful city in a heroic way, but to me it too often feels like Spidey really wants to just stop and have a sit down, to get another LOAD off his mind, and the hero has become an ungainly cartoon version of his former self who cares too much about how he looks and not enough about how he moves, making us players into non-particiPANTS.

SPIDERMAN 3
It is a pretty good game, but the story mode is pretty short. Apart from that it is pretty similar to the film with a few new characters (to make it interesting).

Good but Not Bad
OK lets get things straight. Spidey 3 is not a bad game, it is, in fact, great fun. The additional villains, like Kraven and Lizard, are great competition and wearing the strong... Read more

Just like the film - an excellent premise wasted
I'm a big, big Spider-Man fan, and I adored the game affiliated to the second film on the PS2, so I thought I would give this a shot. I wish I hadn't bothered. Read more

not as bad as it has been made out
to start with, i think why so many people hate it is because owners of a ps2 are brought back to earth with a bump after seeing the ps3 version on youtube and such like. Read more
