About the Author

John Coupland is a multi-award winning e-business and networking professional with 25 years experience in blue chip companies - over 18 years in e-business. John lives and breathes on and off-line networking and has built up a large network since he left the corporate world in 2009. He is the founder of the South East London Business Network and London Global groups, amongst others, on social networks which have hundreds of members between them. His background is diverse and unique. With direct contacts worldwide, he is able to keep tabs on today's exciting, fast-paced and ever-changing world of social networking.

I know we should be doing social media... but in all honesty... till I met John I didn't get the point as I was doing it and getting nothing in return. For me it was a lot of work and a waste of time. Then John taught me the things to focus on and what to do. His book is his mind in words and I can go back over and over to refresh things... because let's be honest ... social media is not my thing... but I know it is a thing that is necessary. John's book, helps you cut the noise out, be strategic and get results. My time now is well spent! Get the book, you love the layout, the methodology is great and just a great book in this field. I highly recommend it.

This is a thought-provoking book. How do we harness the opportunity social media afford us to promote ourselves, without losing the one, priceless commodity of the people we want to engage with - their attention?

Read this book: whether you engage in social media or not, the book will make you rethink. And that's powerful.

I run 3 different businesses, all of which have very different strategies for social media marketing. I wanted to really understand what the options, benefits were for each of them. I was told about John's book from a friend who suggested it would be a perfect read for me.

He was right- it gave me a new understanding of what I was doing wrong- and how i could correct those mistakes. I found the book such a great resource that I sought John out for his advice in a one-to-one arrangement.

Highly recommended for SME business owners!

John's approach to social media is very much focused around the requirements of the small and medium sized business, so if you're in that category - read on. His book is worth your time for the useful tactics and strategies, particularly for integrating online and 'real world' networking, that I have not seen anywhere else.

I liked the fact that John gives you the tactics for a successful online social media campaign based on a clear goal to integrate your on and offline efforts and create genuine engagement. As an example, I applied some of John's suggestions to my online profile and what showed up immediately was some requests to connect from the people I want to connect with. A lot of people will waste time and opportunity just getting that wrong. Well researched, credible and well written.

I met John via social media on linked in. Neither of us had anything in common until I posted a plea for work exp, for my daughter, then he had the connection! And made it happen for her in Harvey Nicks, that's some connection. We got to know each other over time and he encouraged me to try Twitter. He set my social media strategy for my company and got it rolling. I still didn't protest to really understand what I might get from SM , but stuck with it because I trusted John. This book has challenged me to understand finally what I'm doing! The mini exercises and Q and A parts made me think and realise, I'm trying to be all things to all people on social media. But now I see that I have discovered my goal with it is to consistently raise my profile, which is what I'm doing and it's a success. Most people comment I'm on Twitter all day! But in reality maybe three tweets pw and they aren't auto set up.
This book is from the genius of Social Media, when there are supposedly a million gurus out there! tick with this book and talk to John. There is nothing better out there.

A terrific road-map through the murky waters of social media. Easy to get into, assimilate and apply. An excellent blended approach between F2F and online networking. The layout was also easy on the eye - not just the blocks of text often seen. A great read and I'm much more knowledgeable as a result!

The book is easy to read and nicely structured with lots strategies/tips all over the book that can be implemented straight away..

You can tell that the author have lots of experience and some of the strategies that he shares are true gold and you can not get them even form the so called experts.

If you use social to promote anything, then this book is a must read.
