5.0 out of 5 stars What an absolute gem. 9 Oct 2010

I am possibly one of the few people who have been with this band since their first introduction into the beautiful land of England. I have many books on the band BUT this one has a slight edge on the rest , it is full to the rafters with brilliant photo's , i mean i love it it is fantastic. It has pics of ALL the band members past & present and it has some great stage shots and some great pics of the Aussi/International album covers etc.
If you are even remotely passionate about AC/DC then this book is a must , i mean whether your a Bonno or a Jonno era fan there is something in this book for you , i promise you.

By Mr. H TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE

Phil Sutcliffe has been writing about music long enough to have been around since AC/DC first formed. With a pedigree covering Sounds, Q, Blender, the Los Angeles Times and Mojo, he's got enough form to take on the task of living up to the word ultimate that's lodged in the title. And in terms of "illustrated", this is probably the best AC/DC book out there.

The cover itself will be enough to draw a few AC/DC fans in, what with a disc that allows you to spin Angus Young around on stage! Yes, it's a gimmick, but there are an awful lot of AC/DC books out there, so having something that attracts attention is no bad thing. But it's the words and pictures that really count, and that's where things are a bit more hit and miss. The pictures are fabulous. There are rare, early shots, loads of obscure sleeves from the collection of Bill Voccia, and some classic images of the band in full flight that are irrepressible.

The story itself is told well, with a plethora of detail on the early, more interesting years, including a few facts that even I hadn't encountered before. And I've been a fan since the late seventies. There are plenty of details on the early, forgotten members of the band, who contributed to their early live and recorded work, with the likes of Larry Van Kriedt, Rob Bailey, Peter Clack and Colin Burgess reappearing after decades of airbrushing.

Phil Sutcliffes prose moves along well, but the layout of the book does cause a few problems. You see, the story is broken up by a series of essays detailing each album. Now these are written by other people, some of whom seem to only have a passing familiarity with AC/DC, and who don't seem to have a bad word to say about the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars AC/DC Forever 11 Feb 2011
Format:Hardcover
An essencial work for those who know little about the band as well for those who know a lot, but want to find out more, and surelly they will through this work; apart from the photograpic work (with a lot of rare/ previously unseen work), you will get to discover a lot more about this band's history such as early formations, rare discography, bizarre episodes... since it began until nowadays.
As a fan, I am very happy with the book, I am glad I bought it and I certainly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice pics! 2 Nov 2010
Format:Hardcover
Any of you know for sure the story of the band. So this book is more focused on great pics, especially from the first years. Also includes a lot of memorabilia within it (vinyls, tickets, etc.). I recommend this book if you wanna have a good time just looking at the wonderful images that are included. The story is not bad written, but either exciting. To sum up, it worths to get it but is not a "ultimate" biography.
