Product Description

Product Description

Asserting that state schools can meet the needs of able pupils, this text provides practical strategies for both senior managers and classroom teachers to achieve this end. It explores the issues and problems surrounding good provision and suggests why schools have found this area so difficult. The book sites examples of good practice in all phases of school-based education, and in particular looks at ways in which extension planning for able pupils can be developed as part of general planning.

By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A very readable & practical account of what to do with able children both in individual classes and as a whole school- style is "loose" enough for after work reading, and each chapter has a short summary at the end. Covers identification, and stresses need for balance in methods (ie not just test based). Practical ideas for what to do with able children, and ways of generalising to other subjects are included. Whole school response is stressed, with a specific & separate chapter for secondary and primary school issues. A very useful book for 1st time high ability co-ordinators & classroom teachers. Sadly no list of suppliers for instant classroom resources for gifted children. I found myself itching to get at 'em after reading this!
