It's a good little book, but,(And it's not the books fault)it's very much "look but don't touch". Each Depot has it's own section with a map, directions, types of buildings, operators and allocations. There is a clear warning at the front of the book, because, as with most things in Britain, the security aspect is overdone. I don't remember security being a problem during the I.R.A.bombing campaign. I used to visit between 50 & 70 Depots and Stabling Points annually, in the mid 70's, mostly by Rail, and had a 98% success rate. At some places, particularly Worksop and Radyr, they were glad to see someone and there was banter between us. I really look back on those times with great affection, particularly when compared with today's Rail scene. Boring loco's and long gone Depots, plus others with no allocation, I know which I would choose. The book is useful, both for the current scene, and for people of my generation to gloat over. Add it to your collection.
