    Great 10 Dec 2010
    By Iorras
I agree with another reviewer that these have to be worn slightly behind the ball of the foot - then there isn't a problem of them coming undone or coming off. I don't think they would work brilliantly on delicate shoes but then why would anybody be out in the snow in such shoes? Get sensible solid shoes on and secure these between the ball of your foot and your instep and they're great! Only quibble - they have two differently shaped sides with the metal studs facing downwards and the instructions don't say which way around they should be worn. So for those who have trouble with them try putting them on the opposite way instead.

I bought a few pairs for presents and kept a pair for myself. This morning, I went to visit a man who lives alone without transport and took them off when I went into his home. He asked so many questions about them and admired them so much I gave them to him and told him I would get myself more. Now, back here on Amazon I see that their price has increased by 50% - who's taking advantage??

I got these for my son as he has size 12 feet, and most of the grippers that go over heel and toe will not fit on his shoes. These fit easily; the velcro strap was more than long enough, and holds very well (I was afraid it might only just fasten, but that is not the case). They do give a pretty good grip on ice, too, as we have already had occasion to find out. The problem is they are uncomfortable to walk in, since the ball of the foot is raised a substantial degree higher than the heel. It isn't really an issue as my son mostly will need them to get from the house to a vehicle, and they can be slipped off once he has sat down, but I would definitely not recommend them if you intend to walk far. It might be more comfortable if you were wearing boots, but that rather defeats the object of not having to carry indoor shoes to change into. They will be a huge help for getting the wheelie bins out in winter, though, as he will certainly not slip on the path.

I wore these a couple of times and they seemed effective, though a bit annoying as you have to take them off when you go anywhere with a sensitive floor. Unfortunately they fell off in moderately deep snow on the way to the bus, I had thought they were secure, and I only realised once I was on the bus they were missing. I subsequently bought a pair of Yaktrax which have proved very good, you can wear them on any floors, and you can leave them on your boots.

You would be better off wearing your golf shoes
Why not just wear your golf shoes in snow if you are lucky enough to have a pair, Take another pair of shoes with you to change into when you are out of the snow,,, simple.

    Fall off. Not much use
These grips are much easier to take off or put on but also the fall off really easily when you walk. They were a waste of money :-(

These look very strong and sturdy, haven't had a chance to use them yet as we've had no snow/ice so far but have tried them on and they seem very easy to wear.

Works well, good value but ignore the photo.
You DO need to wear these just in front of the heel block i.e. in the middle of your shoe. I have the more expensive all over version which I use for hiking but this is quick and... Read more

    No good in icy conditions
These snow chains are easy to put on and good for snow walking. However, last Christmas Eve I took the dog for a walk round the park and the ground was very icy. Read more
