Product Description

Quirky and exotic! When career-focused Amanda McCree discovers that her controlling Great Aunt, as a last request, has especially asked that Amanda carry her Aunt's remains to Cape Town, Amanda is furious. The last thing she wants is to be forced to visit her parents there, after so many years of bitterness over their rejection. To top it all, she finds herself stranded at her stopover in Bulawayo due to fuel shortages! But through the love of a family that takes her into their game reserve home, the economic crisis of Zimbabwe, and a man who daily lives with his own guilt and heartbreak, Amanda realises that God is more interested in her than she had ever thought. In the heart of the African bush, as she is let into the hurting world of the handsome Caleb Jacobs and his family, Amanda is forced to face her own family divisions and to depend upon the God she thought had failed her. ACCLAIM FOR THIS BOOK: "A delightful read which incorporates intrigue and romance and holds a forthright Christian message. The author writes knowledgeably about Zimbabwe and provides convincing glimpses of the country's natural beauty." - Diana Valerie Clark, Ordained Pastor "Fascinating story! Follow Amanda McCree as her life takes some unexpected, unplanned twists and turns on an unwanted journey to Africa. Through these, she learns the truth about her family and regains her faith in God, who shows her He is a Father of the fatherless, a defender of the widow, is holy in His habitation, and that He sets the solitary in families (Ps. 68:5)." - Dr. Karen Joy King , Christian Leadership University professor, journalist, Counselor, Musician

I read this book in a quick 2 weeks as it was so brilliant. I loved the way the author writes about Zimbabwe and also brings in God in a beautiful way into the lives of the characters. It had me gripped. Loved it. I hope she quickly writes some more.

I really enjoyed the book. It is refreshingly different and has such vivid imagery I could see and smell the dust of Africa. The author is to be commended for her insight into life in a third world country. I thoroughly recommend this book and look forward to a sequel.

good read! 5 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
I find the book compelling and finished reading it within a short period of time.
The challenges that the characters are facing are relevant to our time, and I took away some insights from the way the characters handled the situation...
