The Typography of this book is as eye-catching as any photography text book I have read. The attention to detail and sheer amount of information about the band is incredible. There is nothing left out to chance. From the band's choice in artwork to their ethos on music, and its creative process, Helen Chase has captured Franz Ferdinand for exactly who and what they are.
Although it is crammed with a plethora of details and stunning photography, it doesn't in any way feel inaccessible or bulky.
This is definitely got to be in every fans collection and gives a realistic insight into how a band functions: an excellent example of biographical writing.

No book can do more justice to Franz Ferdinand than this book. Helen Chase really did an amazing job! Her book is well-documented (she actually interviewed the band and many people from their circle as well) and very entertaining. It is divided into several parts; each part dealing with one particular Franz related subject ("History", "Influences", "Key Gigs", "Songs and Songwriting"...). Its design is really nice and the pictures are great too. As a Franz fan, I can say this book is a must for any person interested in Franz Ferdinand.

An A-Z of Franz Ferdinand is easily the best Franz book I have come across in my four years as a fan: it's the only one that has both good looks and depth.
It's a well-designed, classy-looking book filled with great photos. I'm pleased to say that it's also very accurate (unlike the majority of Franz books I've encountered, which get even the basic facts wrong).
It's really well-researched and is the only book that looks at this band from so many different angles with so much depth. The book covers a huge number of topics including art, fashion, gigs, Glasgow and detailed information on all individual band members. There is also an up-to-date section on the band's preparations for the upcoming release of their 3rd album.
If you want to find out more about Franz Ferdinand, this is the definitely the book you should buy.
