Product Description

Jenna, at 13, realizes what she wants to do with her life. She wants to fly. Like Grandad's heroine, Amy Johnson, whose name appears on a "magic" flagstone. But her wish for wings has to be put on hold when Grandad's gun goes missing - and Jenna is almost sure that her brother Ned has taken it.

From the Back Cover

'I'll fly,' Jenna whispered to herself. 'I'll fly, whatever Ned says. Whatever anybody says...'

Jenna is thirteen - and has suddenly realized what she wants to do with her life. She wants to fly. Like Grandad's heroine, Amy Johnson, whose name appears on a 'magic' flagstone she passes nearly every day, she wants to soar up into the skies...

Unlike Grandad, who never fulfilled his childhood ambition to fly. And is now lonely and depressed since Grandma died last year...

Unlike her brother Ned, who only seems interested in showing off to his new 'friend' - sinister, nasty Gavin Lassiter, who has a weird hold over Ned...

But Jenna's wish for wings has to be put on hold when something awful happens: Grandad's souvenir of his wartime service - a loaded gun - goes missing. And Jenna is almost certain that Ned has taken it...

This Is Great 2 Feb 2003
By Chris
Format:Paperback
Jenna like most young people has an ambition, to fly. Like her grandad. Her dream has to be put on hold as her grandad's gun goes missing and she is sure her brother Ned has got it. The cleverly named book is Jenna's dream 'A wish for WINGS' A great read for everyone from 8 until 15. This book whether your male or female makes you feel like you are jenna.

Format:Hardcover
Swindells writes with his usual suspense but not such a dark story line. Jenna a 13 yr old girl wants to be a pilot when she grows up despite her family saying she'll grow out of it, or 'it's too expensive to train'. In the mean time her brother is under the influence of an evil new boy who drags them into an illegal situation by terrorising them. Despite the nastiness of the 'baddy' this book has a positive message and Jenna's relationship with her Grandad is to be envied. Recommended
