A Valentine's Kiss is the perfect antidote to the winter blues. Imogen is an underdog who has spent years of her young life in England sneaking next door to bake with her neighbour, who offers her the chance to follow her culinary dreams on the French Riviera. She bravely goes for it, and the caper begins. She wears the wrong clothes, makes cringe-worthy mistakes in a gourmet restaurant, and meets one colourful character after another, setting the scene for a full-on whodunit when she is kissed by a mystery man during a game of Blind Man's Bluff. There are so many possibilities, I was completely hooked by the mystery and stayed up way past my bedtime to get the answer. Highly recommend!

When this book arrived I was a little disappointed with the cover and I did wonder if it would be any good. Turns out that this book was right up my street! I don't really blog about it much but I love cooking so to have a trainee chef as the main character was brilliant.
Imogen has led quite a sheltered life and has always been in the shadow of her demanding siblings. She can't believe her luck when she is offered a summer position in the kitchen of Monsieur Boudin's award winning restaurant in Saint-Jean-les-Carris. Imogen and her loyal dog Monty set off to the South of France in search of new experiences.
Monsieur Boudin runs a very tight ship and Imogen wants to impress him as much as he can. Dimitri and Bastien also work in the kitchen and soon make it clear that their interest in Imogen is much more than a professional one.
Imogen makes many friends and Bunny, a lovely and wealthy American asks her to cater for the lavish Valentine's party that she is hosting. It is at this party where Imogen is kissed by the mysterious man. The rest of the book follows Imogen as she tries to discover the kisser's identity. So follows many funny moments and plenty of kissing.
Lucie hart has written a really heart warming story. Whilst I did enjoy Imogen searching for her mysterious admirer; I enjoyed seeing her develop as a person even more. Imogen literally blossoms during her summer away. She can finally be true to herself and follow the career that she is passionate about. All of this gives her the confidence to pursue her admirer so she can find out what will happen next.
A Valentine's Kiss is a really enjoyable book; I didn't fall in love with the cover but what was inside more than made up for it.

I loved this book. It is a chick-lit, but a clever one.
It's not your usual girl meets boy and at the end kiss and make up.
Imogen leaves her demanding sibling in London and moves to southern France to start working as a kitchen assistant to pursue her dream of becoming a chef.
She meets all sorts of new friends and at a party whilst playing Blind Man's Bluff she is kissed - but it's a kiss that she can't forget.
The game than starts as she tries to find the man that swept her of her feet with that one kiss.

Great story that made me smile throughout the book and I am so glad I picked this up. There are a couple of paintings mentioned in the book and I just wish one of them was used on the cover as the existing cover makes this book look cheap.

This Valentine's day Imogen is going to meet the man of her dreams. If only she can discover who he is... At a gloriously over-the-top house party in the balmy South of France, British trainee chef Imogen finds herself playing blind man's buff with a host of impossibly handsome men. And then one of them kisses her.

Ok so its nearly Valentines Day and to cheer me up i thought i would give this one a go and i was not disappointed. I have been alittle turned off by some chick lit of late but this bought me right back on track. I found it easy to read, the characters likeable and i stayed up late trying to reach the end to solve the mystery of the secret kisser! Imogen travels to France to work in a top restaurant after her live in england not living up to what it should. She immediately finds herself being the attention of a couple of admirers in the restuarnat but when one kisses her, she is desperate to find out who it is. Her secret admirer romances and woes her without her even seeing him. But who is it???
The story is like a big fantasy that you could only ever imagining happening to you - one of dreams but isnt that the purpose of a good "chick lit" read. ?towards the end the story becomes alittle obvious as to how it might end but its still lovely just the same. A great debut novel. I will definately look out for further books by Lucie Hart
