Biography

“Magnetic poles are a constant but no one can get an entirely accurate reading, they are always off a degree or so. This band is like that, keeping a constant purpose but kind of wandering and stumbling upon new things.” Vocalist Jay Forrest tries to put into words the impetus behind the title of the band’s forthcoming album titled Magnetic North to be released on Trustkill ... 3.0 out of 5 stars goodbye screamo ,hello emo 3 Mar 2006
By sean paul mccann VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
change is part of music, even a band as stubborn as napalm death have changed slightly over the years, hopesfall have changed alot in this album, the screamo that was part of the satellite years has all but gone and a more emo and laid back sound has been born,it certainly was a shock at first listen,it just lacked the angst of the previous album, the lyrics on 'A types ' are good and some of the songs are great but some are just limp and jaded and not up to scratch, still a decent album but not at all what i was praying for

3.0 out of 5 stars Signs of old age? 10 Nov 2004
Format:Audio CD
I was awaiting this album with baited breath and on first hearing was a little disappointed.
The songs are probably better than on the previous Trustkill album, but the zest was missing.
The musicianship was, as usual, excellent, but the screaming was at a premium and thats what sets Hopesfall apart from say, Papa Roach.
You can't beat a good throaty roar and they are in short supply here..nonetheless still a cut above albums of this kind by other artists.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'A Types', A-Class! 4 Nov 2004
Format:Audio CD
Hopesfall have done not only themselves proud, but Trustkill too! This album is extremely fitting for the label they are currently signed to! Their sound is jigsawed to fit neatly in this record label's neice, which may not have necessarily been a good thing had the album sounded JUST like evrything else, but thankfully here the stops have been pulled out!
With their Hardcore tinged rock, and their nu-metalesque fun, this album has to apply to a wide market! It may not have any chart breaking singles, but what it does have is little 'fanfares' of brilliance, showing off their obvious skill and musicianship! Tracks like 'Icarus' and 'Breathe from Coma' are not to be missed, with their catchy riffage and melody, and perfect vocals and writings! Album opener 'It Happens' will have you humming it for the rest of the day after only a few listens, and gleefuly this isn't a bad thing!
This band reminds me of another connected to it's label's contemporary (Roadrunner), Five Pointe O. Their 'Untitled' Album showed initial signs of 'heard it all before' nu-metal, but when you go back and listen to it again, and again, and again, you'll realise you can't stop! So I suggest you give Hopesfall a chance, you shouldn't be dissappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars A changed hopesfall, but amazing hopesfall 29 Nov 2004
Format:Audio CD
Well, with only Josh Brigham left from the original Hopesfall, you can forgive them for sounding different! Gone is the constant screaming, metal guitars and double bass drumming. In is melodic singing, alternative sound and more emo. Sounds horrible if you an old skool fan! But this really is a brilliant album. Jay Forrest's vocals are amazing, this guy can sing, and although he sang a bit on the Satellite Years, we never really got to hear what he was like when he got going. He is impressive.
Stand out songs on this are: Start and Pause (a great rock song which has some classic hopesfall elements in there and an awesome melodic chorus, Icarus (the single, you have heard it already surely!), Breathe From Coma (stadium rock? Its bloody amazing with a beautiful chorus to die for), Per Sempre Marciamo (the album closer, simply amazing).. If ur expecting The Satellite Years or No Wings To Speak Of, u will be sadly disappointed im afraid. But dont let that put you off, Hopesfall have matured and are still amazing
