Lee Wiley had a somewhat sporadic recording career, but I'm mighty pleased she got into the studio in the 50s to produce two of her best efforts, "West of the Moon" and this one. The superb Billy Butterfield leads a hot orchestra behind Wiley's satiny vocals, as she sings a superb programme of rather off-beat material. Wiley always had a bluesy edge to her style, and she makes you believe every songs she sings. She really was a unique stylist, and very influential on other singers, notably Peggy Lee. This is a classic album which every fan of jazz vocals should own. The moment she kicks into "Memphis Blues" you'll be hooked.

Lee Wiley has been one of my favourites among female singers for many years.
Her voice is very very special and her choices of musicians and tunes are admirable.
Lee Wiley deserves to be far more known by music lovers.

A great piece of nostalgia, she was a fine jazz singer, and the CD sounds almost as though it was an original rather than having been copied from vinyl.
