Book Description

Life gets more dangerous for loner Humility. Her boat is damaged, her niece has run away from the commune and the man who blames her for his brother's death wants her to investigate a suicide. She's faced with corporate intrigue, girl gangs and, most terrifying of all, she's expected to enjoy the festivities celebrating the opening of the upmarket new Midway marina complex. Things can only get worse...

From the Publisher

Follow-up to A Kind of Puritan, Deacon’s acclaimed first genre-busting futurecrime novel.

In an all too credible future, Humility must navigate the minefield of boat repairs, a mothers expectations, a missing niece, homeless kids and a hanged man...and thats before the nightmares! Once they start its read with the lights on terrifying look into childrens fear...is someone really stealing kids?

I loved Penny's first book "A Kind of Puritan" but this is one of those rare sequels that completly blows its predecessor out of the water.

A Gripping Read... 30 July 2006

A gripping dectective novel set in an all too plausible future. The central character Humility is a sympathetic and finely drawn misfit who investigates the disappearance of her neice. Fast paced and intreaguing...worth a read.
