More About the Author

Born in the Essex countryside Jimmy Doherty has always had a passion for farming and the outdoors. He started his career as an entomologist at Molehall Wildlife Park and the Natural History Museum but gave it all up to pursue his dream of farming in 2003, rearing rare breed pedigree pigs in Suffolk. The business has continued to grow and expand and Jimmy is still happily farming in Suffolk.

Product Description

Review

Jimmy will inspire everyone to care more about food, from how it's farmed to where to buy the best produce as well as making people realise that they can live the good life too. . . A great book - everyone should own a copy. --Heat Magazine --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

About the Author

Jimmy Doherty was born in the beautiful Essex countryside, and has been passionate about nature and farming for as long as he can remember. After leaving school, he became an entomologist at Molehall Wildlife Park, the Natural History Museum and Coventry University but in 2003, he decided to leave the study of insects behind him to set up a rare breed pig farm in Suffolk. His trials and tribulations were filmed by the BBC and he wrote his first book On the Farm to accompany the series. He still lives and works on the farm with his girlfriend, 300 pigs, 3 cows, 15 sheep, 2 dogs and 100 chickens.

Format: Hardcover
Having followed Jimmy's adventures for some time now with the TV series Jimmy's Farm, and his first book "On the Farm", I have been continually fascinated by his passion for nature, and the massive task he took on as a virtual novice to convert a derelict farm to a successful working pig farm.
This book continues to express his fervour for all things natural and organic, and combines some simple mouthwatering recipes such as the delectable sea bass with wild fennel, with hands on guides for growing your own veges, or building a campfire. As an ex country boy this strikes a cord and I am sure it will with all, so pick up a copy then head down to his farm and check out the real life for yourselves.

Format: Paperback
Recipes that you will actually want to try with no fancy ingredients or complicated instructions. The photos show dishes that have just come out of the oven, reality with burnt edges! If you have a taste for chilli's do try the sweet chilli jam. The recipes are also geared to anyone who grows their own and has a surplus. So what do you do with all those tomatoes, apples and dwarf/runner beans every year? A good present for the gardener or cook.
