Boone Dorsey has just discovered that seventeen years ago he fathered a son. His friend Cully Grainger has located the boy.
Cambria Weston lives with her family on the Weston ranch, her father Ted, stepmother Irene and brother Pete. They run a bed and breakfast to help make ends meet. Then Boone Dorsey arrives and announces that he would like to stay a month. No one stays that long, especially as the season hasn't started yet, Cambria immediately feels edgy around this handsome stranger, he has a knack of prising information out of you without giving any back. But if he is up to something she is determined to find out. It doesn't help that she feels attracted to him, but she's been down that path before with disastrous results so that is a non starter for her. Boone has promised himself that he won't go charging in and let slip his secret, he feels Cambria's animosity towards him, she is an attractive women and it is obvious she has her own personal demons so he needs to focus on his reason for being at the Weston ranch, and keep away from Cambria, even though he would like to get closer.
This is an emotional story which is quite well written. It is a little slow to start, but certainly warms up once it gets going. Cambria is a bit difficult to like she is a very prickly character. Boone is a self made man but has not forgotten what it is like to have nothing, he is patient person especially with Cambria.who makes it her main priority to keep him away from her family. The characters are well drawn, including the supporting cast. A story well worth reading.
