Product Description

Product Description

The poems in this collection are peverse, humorous, sexy, blasphemous and sometimes iconoclastic. The worlds the characters inhabit are bizarre, mysterious places full of the unexpected, whether in ancient Greece, the Garden of Eden or the local pub.

Rollinson disputes his nickname, whether or not you agree with him you'll find the poems in this debut collection sexy and moving. Always funny, always sensitive, the poet guides you through the nooks and crannies of his (sometimes distorted) imagination with an enthusiasm that scares. This is unconventional but forward-looking poetry at it's best - hailed by Don Paterson and Matthew Sweeny - Neil Rollinson will go far. I can't wait for his next collection.

One of the most exciting books I have read in 1996 Neil Rollinson is witty and erotic in his verse
You won't be able to put this book down. 1 May 1998

This is the first book of poetry that I've read from cover to cover in one sitting. And then reread several times. Each short poem is written in a beautiful, accessible style that really pulls in the reader. Various themes repeatedly pop up, including a number of poems on biblical characters written from their own point of view. The poems are sensual, but not lush, the writing, while not exactly spare, is never florid. Read it!
