This is one of those books that you finish reading and feel the need to sigh. It's a sweet story, a feel good story. A story about love overcoming all of the obstacles and challenges that life hurtles at us day after day. The story centers around Ron, a young military man, and Katie, the woman of his dreams. We follow them through a friendship that blossoms into more, through years of seperation during World War II, through paternity tests and losses of friends--all the while, the main theme is blatantly obvious: love can conquer all. I admit, I'm not much of a romance reader. Initially that's what I pegged this book as..and while there is somewhat of a romantic feel to it, its not all gushy mushy romantic. It's a nice heartfelt story...and I found myself enjoying it to my surprise. I would definitely say that this book will appeal to more females than males..call me sexist, but I can't imagine any of my guy friends reading it..I can however, see them being dragged to the movie theater to watch it, when its adapted into a feature film.. If you want to read a simple, heart warming story..this is the one for you.
