'A fun, heart-warming read ****'

(Company magazine )

Product Description

A warm and romantic tale of love, sex and making the right choices from the increasingly popular author of NICE GIRLS DO and ANOTHER WOMAN'S HUSBAND

When Michael tells Natalie that he 'needs space', she's devastated. She thought he was the love of her life but now Michael's found himself a new girlfriend. So much for space. Natalie tries speed-dating, but how could she move on when she's still yearning for Michael? One of her speedy dates is Guy and, despite the lack of chemistry, at least she's now got a date for her best friend's wedding. But past indiscretions are about to come to light. Natalie needs to escape. Guy happens to own a flat she can borrow... in Rome! There Natalie makes some fabulous new friends and discovers who puts the Rome into Romeo. She's falling in love - but is it with Rome, or with someone she finds there?

A feast of a read! 22 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
Found this in my Christmas stocking (thoughtful daughter!) and it's provided the perfect escape from grey-skied snow-bound Britain. Bliss! What I enjoy about Sarah Duncan's novels (and, yes, I've read and loved them all) is that not only are they 'stuff the housework' page-turners, but there's also that added dimension of learning something new. This time it was Rome and the Romantic poets who created a backdrop to the tale of Natalie, the heroine, and her plight. Dumped by the love of her life and sacked from her job, Natalie heads off for Rome where she quickly becomes entangled in the Italian lifestyle and realises that it's not all blue skies ahead and La Dolce Vita. Hilarious touches such as the speed-dating scene and Natalie's new career as a 'jumper-outer' were mixed with emotional angst and even a few spine-chilling moments to make for a great read. Absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next one!

A lively read! 29 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a book to curl up with and simply enjoy. Though it has plenty of other things to recommend it as well. It's easy to get into and with a heroine you can't help but feel sympathy for from the start. Finding out how Natalie's story moves on, and how she progresses from tearfully jilted girl to someone who can impersonate Beatrice Cenci on the streets of Rome [significantly, nobody notices the jeans and trainers beneath her costume!] is well worth reading.

I took this book to Thailand but found every time I opened the pages I was in Rome and loving it. I now absolutely must visit that city, even though it will be overcrowded with avid readers of this novel! Sarah Duncan effortlessly evokes that sense of how a new and exciting place gradually becomes familiar and, without us even realising it, we change and grow on the journey.

It's great read, funny and moving and ultimately satisfying. We know, long before Natalie, what she should do for her future happiness, but the story leaves us wondering if she will realise this, right up to the wonderful ending.
