I simply have to leave a review to counter balance the only one here as of yet. This is a book about silversmithing and the involved techniques for corpus work. It has a lot to offer those who wish to understand the necessary techniques as well as the thinking and planning needed before embarking - thus it will save you a lot of time and money!
For those of you lucky enough to have been apprentices of a silversmith, this will be a reminder of how you learned, for those of you who now have to learn at classes - this book shows you how it should be done. It has all of the guild feeling and will guide you well towards a good grasp of the profession. But there are other books out there too - I would have given this a four, but considering the other very unfair and irrelevant review the average will now be a four.
This book is useful, interesting and does sometimes feel a little old. However, I do think one should understand all the processes shown... and if you are the slightest bit imaginative, you will see, it actually informs jewellers too. Metal doesn't change it's nature with the scale... your tools will though, slightly.
