More About the Author

Lyn was born in Liverpool in September 1944. Her father Joseph was killed on D-Day in 1944 when Lyn was just nine months old. When Lyn was three her mother Monica married Frank Moore, who became 'Dad' to the little girl. Lyn was brought up in Liverpool and became a secretary before marrying policeman Robert Andrews. In 1970 Lyn gave birth to triplets - two sons and a daughter - who kept her busy for the next few years. Once they'd gone to school Lyn began writing, and her first novel was quickly accepted for publication. She has since written a further thirty-five novels.

Lyn lived for eleven years in Ireland and is now resident on the Isle of Man, but spends many weeks of the year back on Merseyside, seeing her children and four grandchildren.

I also left school 1959 like Dee and Jean, the main characters in the book. It brought back memories, good and bad of those times. A really good read. I couldn't put it down. Don't usually read books with stories from the 50s but would highly recommend this one if only for nostalgia of the late 50s, early 60s.

An easy style of writing but no surprises ..everything that happens is predictable. Not boring but no great excitement, comedy or suspense..just a nice little story. What is good are the descriptions of late 50s - 60s life in Liverpool...good detail of fashion, households, transport etc from that era.

The book is very good, really puts your mind back to those years in the book. The story line also shows how times change and how things were and still are to an extent in Ireland. All in all a very enjoyable book

A bit hurried in places plot was quite predictable. It was lovely reading about the friendship between the two characters. The tale s of woe were a bit repetitive. Overall 4/10
