Product Description

The new wonderfully warm and witty novel from Fern Britton, the much-loved TV personality.
Perfect for fans of Katie Fforde and Trisha Ashley.

When the residents of the Cornish seaside town of Trevay discover that their much-loved theatre is about to be taken over by coffee chain, Café au Lait, they are up in arms. It is up to Penny Leighton, hotshot producer and now happily married Cornish resident, to come up with a rescue plan. Armed with only her mobile phone and her contacts book, she starts to pull in some serious favours.

The town is soon deluged by actors, all keen to show their support and take part in a charity season at the theatre. One of the arrivals is Jess Tate, girlfriend to TV heartthrob Ryan Hearst. His career is on the rise while hers remains resolutely in the doldrums. But when opportunity comes calling, it isn’t just her career prospects that are about to change. Trevay is about to put on the show of its life – but can the villagers, and Jess, hold on to the thing they love the most?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beach read! 27 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second of Fern Britton's novels centred around the Cornish seaside town of Trevay. It features many of the characters we met in Hidden Treasure and also some fantastically colourful new "showbiz" characters and also some familiar names! The main plot is to save the historic Trevay Pavillion Theatre from being turned into a commercial coffee house but I found the sub-plot featuring the tangled-web of the relationships between the showbiz characters far more interesting. This is an easy to read novel which requires no thought to the plot whatsoever and is an ideal beach read! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed 26 May 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Having read previous Fern Britton books I was looking forward to her new book. I was very disappointed. The story was very boring I couldn't finish it. It was unrealistic for a small Cornish Town, too many star names dropped! Would not recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favourites. 24 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this story hard to get into with so many characters being introduced. Who belonged to whom? I really had to concentrate. I was also not so keen on the name dropping of so many famous people. I had not come across the characters who had been in previous books, having not read the books! Sorry, not one of my favourite reads.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable book 22 Jun 2014
By Kim M
Format:Kindle Edition
After a shaky first novel, Fern's writing got better and better and I have loved all her subsequent books, including A Seaside Affair.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is two of the main characters acted in a way I found unbelievable in one incident after Fern had built them up to be good and I didn't really approve of who ended up with who. Again Fern's writing suggested things would turn out otherwise but seemed to change direction for no good reason.
