I purchased this book on Amazon after it came up as a recommendation.

I was hesitant at first due to its childish and strange cover but it sounded like a good holiday read, so I tried it.

It had so many twists and turns, and I found myself gasping at most of them! Sam Sharp is a no nonsense 'superagent,' who knows how to stand on her own two feet, which is inspiring and nice to read in books. Sam reminded me of a modern Elizabeth Bennett...outspoken, gutsy and careful about falling too quickly in love.

Great book that keeps you guessing and wanting more!

A Great Summer Read 28 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Fast-moving, sassy, sharp and sexy - this is Alison Bond's best book yet. It's a real page-turner and very hard to put down. Full of escapism fun, it's definitely one to pack for your holidays!

I do agree with the previous comments about the cover. It is really incongruous with the content. This is not a light and fluffy typical chick-lit book. It's big and bold with a central character who is ballsy. I also love the fact it's a football book, not that football plays a huge role, but it is the backdrop to the story and with the World Cup coming up, it actually feels relevant.

Cover aside, it is a fab book and I 100% recommend.

... this has to be it! Totally agree with all the other reviewers about the cover. It really doesn't convey a sense of what the story is about at all, and neither, it has to be said, does the title. There is nothing remotely Cinderella-ish about Samantha Sharpe whatsoever, and why the cover portrays a pink shoe-clad foot appearing out of a fairly tale coach completely escapes me. Fluffy chick lit it ain't (not that there's anything wrong with fluffy chick lit!). What you get is a reasonably gritty story about a woman who has fought tooth and nail to escape what was a very disadvantaged start in life to become a superagent for would-be football stars of the future. The tale romps along at a fair rate of knots; we meet a variety of characters along the way, including a young footballer with oodles of potential, a jailbird brother, and the dynamic boss of Legends, the agency Sam works for - and not forgetting a somewhat sinister Russian oligarch. All of this is packaged up into a very readable book, with a neat twist at the end.

So, if you're looking for a rattlingly good holiday read, this one's for you. If you're looking for hearts and flowers romance, leave this one on the shelf!

A rip-roaring romp!
A Reluctant Cinderella is Alison Bond's best book yet! It is a proper bonkbuster in the tradition of Jackie Collins or Judith Krantz, brought bang up to date. Read more

Great read
Great story with an unexpected twist at the end.

A super book let down by a bad cover, title and blurb
Samantha Sharp is a football agent, and a very good one at that. She's worked hard to get to the top in a male oriented world, and it's finally paying off. Read more

Don't judge this book by the insipid cover!
