Product Description

Product Description

This is a second edition of a well-received and successful text first published by Oxford in 1980. Designed for both therapists-in-training and seasoned professionals, the work introduces the basic principles of rational-emotive therapy, explains general therapeutic strategies, and offers many illustrative dialogues between therapist and patient. The authors have extensively revised the book to include many of the clinical findings which have accumulated over the last decade.

This book ideally suits those about to embark in training with Rational-Emotive Therapy. It is clear, concise and presents its content in a fashion that is easy to assimilate and actually, hard to put down.

It also acts as a manual and guide. It can aid in becoming "un-stuck" with specific issues as the information content is highly structured and specifics easy to locate.

Difficult to beat, the authors are to be complimented.

Possibly THE best overview of REBT for therapists. 24 April 2000
By Robert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
While Ellis is the originator of REBT, he may or may not be the best author on the subject. Walen, Dryden and DiGiusseppe provide the underlying philosophy, the nuts-and-bolts, a boatload of techniques, and special applications of the therapy. I use REBT in practice, and this is the text to which I refer most often. If you are a therapist considering learning more about REBT and how to use it in practice, this is the book for you.
Good book 3 Sep 2011

I got this book for a class. It's well written with good examples. Due to the way it's written, it's an easy read and isn't incredibly boring. I think it's a good addition to therapeutic knowledge and tools. As anyone in the field knows, different theories and practice sometimes contradict other approaches but individuals also need different interventions based on their personality. I believe this approach will not work for everyone but is a good tool for some personalities.

This book has the ins and outs of RET with great examples and things to watch for as a new RET therapist. Definitely a must-have book for any RET therapist.
