Product Description

Product Description

The A Practical Approach series is the perfect partner for practice work. Each title focuses on one field of the law, providing a comprehensive overview of the subject together with clear, practical advice and tips on issues likely to arise in practice. The books are also an excellent resource for those new to the law, where the expert overview and clear layout promote clarity and ease of understanding. Despite repeated attempts in recent years to simplify the planning system, planning law has continued to be so complex that practitioners and students alike have found it difficult to disentangle the issues and principles involved. The eleventh edition of Victor Moore's popular and accessible book aims to remove the mystery which planning law has for so many people. This new edition contains coverage of the Planning Act 2008, with the addition of a new chapter which examines the changes introduced by this Act. The Planning Act 2008 is one of the most significant changes to planning law in recent years and constitutes a major overhaul of the planning application process, with special provisions for major infrastructure projects. Amongst the key developments initiated by the Act is the introduction of an Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) which will create a single process for granting the appropriate consents for major infrastructure projects, within designated national policy frameworks. There is also provision for a Community Infrastructure Levy which will provide local councils with the option of imposing a levy upon development, with the funds raised being used to finance major infrastructure projects e.g. hospitals and schools. Now in its eleventh edition, A Practical Approach to Planning Law continues to provide a comprehensive and systematic guide to the principles and practice of planning law. Containing coverage of all recent cases as well as important developments since the publication of the previous edition in 2007, this new edition provides a valuable introduction to the subject for professionals and students alike.

A very good summary of statute and case law in planning. I bought it for my Planning Masters Degree and am still using it as a development control officer. Clear and easy to read.

Format:Paperback
A wealth of expertise takes the reader through a well organised summary of English town and country planning law, up to date at April 2000. Chapter headings include Environmental Impact Assessment, appeals and judicial review, listed buildings and much more besides. A vast array of case law illustrates the points. This subject is complex, the book a true vade mecum.
