I've read the print version of this book many times, and it is one of my favourite Anne Tyler novels; it was the first ebook I bought for my new Kindle this Christmas. But there must be something wrong with the publisher's scanning software as the typos were appalling: Perm Station for Penn Station, Uttered for littered, to name a few. You might forgive quality issues like this in a free download from a self-publishing author (or you might not) but not from a mainstream publisher and a book costing over £4.00. I returned it - come on, digital publishers, do better!

This has become one of my all time favourite books. I read it in 3 days, yet didn't want it to to ever end.
It was wonderfully written - a story giving you a small insight into the life of a 30 year old man called Barnaby...the events of the past help us understand how he became the person he is today, but can the life he is leading and the people he meets along the way help him to grow as a person? He is such a lovely man you wish that you could be part of Barnabys life too...
