Product Description

Mark Noble plans a surprise proposal to his beautiful girlfriend during a romantic Caribbean vacation. But before he can pop the question, his girlfriend disappears, and his father--a world famous celebrity doctor who seems to have perfected mind-control--is killed in a mysterious fire back home in Pennsylvania.

When Mark investigates both his girlfriend's disappearance and his father's death, he realizes that the two events are connected. He attempts to unravel the mystery with the help of his eccentric grandmother and the courageous crew--one a former Navy SEAL--of her luxury yacht, putting all of their lives in danger as Mark faces a rich and powerful foe determined to pry from Mark a secret he doesn't even know he possesses.

Breakneck pacing and taut plotting mark Greg Smith's sophomore effort, a top-notch thriller with keen intelligence and shocking twists that create a brooding, vice-like compression that leaves little room to breathe.

Brilliant Read 21 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A fast paced novel that I found difficult to put down. Felt all the emotions Mark Noble felt and was astonished at the twist when we discovered where the relevant information was held. Who needs a father like his. Recommend this if you like a good thriller. My first time with this author but will certainly look out for him in future.

This thriller pushes all the right buttons: a US Navy SEAL and a Caribbean setting (shades of David Kessler's Checkmate at the Beauty Pageant (The Dov Shamir Adventures)), disappearance, sudden death, family intrigue. It's got all the right elements of an enjoyable beach read. Whilst I wouldn't go along with the pretentious comparison with The Manchurian Candidate, the book does have something to say about mind control. The book is very clear-cut in terms of its distinction between the good-guys and the bad-guys, but this in no way diminished my enjoyment in reading it. The only thing that surprises me is that it only has one review here.

A good read 29 Mar 2012

Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
A Noble Cause by J. Gregory Smith is an enjoyable novel. The basic plot concerns the disappearance of the girlfriend of Mark Noble, during their holiday in the Caribbean. Things are complicated by the sudden death of her father in a mysterious fire. Mark is determined to discover the truth behind his girlfriends disappearance and her fathers death.

J. Gregory Smith has written an excellent book which moves at a good pace. The characters are nicely fleshed out and there are some surprise plot twists that I didn't see coming. If you enjoy a good thriller than why not give A Noble Cause a read. Thank you for reading my review.

A Noble Cause
This is a fast moving thriller supposedly along the lines of Manchurian Candidate and Dean Koontz 'False Memeory', but I'm not so sure that it bears the same comparison. Read more

Mind bending
I found the narrative a bit disjointed and some of the characters a trifle far fetched. Mark Noble is about to propose to his girlfriend when she disappears. Read more

Not bad
New authors are often very hard to review, especially if their writing doesn't fit into a particular genre. Gregory Smith's A Noble Cause falls into this greyest of areas. Read more
