Recorded live on 20 June in Houston, Texas, with more than 12,000 worshippers in attendance; artist, composer, author and worship leader Michael W. Smith recorded his third highly-anticipated worship album 'A New Hallelujah'. "Since my last world tour a few years ago, I've been looking forward to recording a live worship project that reflected something more global than I've ever done before; a collection of songs and voices to translate what I experienced that year. I had hoped for an evening of worship that reflected the corners of the world; I think we captured that. My great friend Israel Houghton, the world renowned African Children's Choir, an incredible young worship leader named Coalo Zamorano and a 250-voice choir elevated the songs to amazing moments of praise and worship. It was more than I could have hoped for," shares Smith. The title track was penned by Michael, his wife Debbie and friend Paul Baloche and the album was arranged and produced by Michael. With several new songs that Michael wrote especially for this project, as well as familiar ones such as 'Mighty to Save' and 'I Surrender All', 'A New Hallelujah' offers a uniquely moving worship experience for both fans of his highly-successful Worship albums, as well as those who are just discovering his music for the first time.

Format:Audio CD
Once again, Michael has lifted us to the throne room to deliver praise. And he still does a great job of it.
Like the previous two, this CD is a recording of a live worship event that Michael led. There are two differences from the previous releases. There are no studio tracks, here. More importantly, Michael wrote about half the song on here. A few originally appeared on his last couple of studio releases, but they fit right in here.
Of the familiar songs, I really am thrilled to get "Mighty to Save" a song I learned this summer. And I can't get enough copies of "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)." Michael has arranged the classic hymn "I Surrender All" to switch from English to Spanish, which is kind of cool.
And that's another thing that sets this CD apart. Several friends show up to help with the songs. Caolo Zamorano does the Spanish singing I just discussed. Israel Houghton does a duet on the gospel flavored "Help is on the Way" that he co-wrote. Finally, the African Children's Choir back up Michael on two songs, both with a fun African flavor.
My one complaint is the same one I've had with his other Worship projects. At times, he just takes a few lines and repeats them. If I am paying close attention to the disc, that gets annoying. Fortunately, most of the time I tune it out at that point and come back for the next song.
If you were a fan of Michael's previous worship oriented releases, you'll enjoy having this one in your collection as well.

Wow what an amazing cd I love every song on that cd. It is nperfect for praise and worship. I bought it 4 months ago and I still listen to it evryday. All my friend that drive with me in my car fell in love with the cd and a few of them already bought it. It is a must have.

I don't tend to do product reviews but when this arrived and I put it in the CD player it blew me away. I like Michael W. Smith but this is the best he has ever produced and he has taken worship to another level. These songs will be echoing round local churches for years to come. I love the new arrangement of the traditional 'Amazing Grace' and 'The Enemy Has Been Defeated'.
If you are looking for a worship CD to lift you higher than ever - buy this - you will not be disappointed.

I did not enjoy this CD. I found most of the songs to be repetitive. There are other CD's out there which are much better. Save yourself the £15
