To Bath in its Georgian heyday come colourful visitors, not the least curious is Colonel Sir James Delabole - wealthy, gouty and seeking to make amends for a disreputable past. Hannah March is a good read

If you are fortunate to find a Hannah March book (they are not easy to come by), read it! They are not "great literature" -- just a good story written by a good writer. You might learn a little bit of history (which is accurate); you definitely will have a good time.
