Book Description

Nov 2000
Detective-Inspector Raynes is persuaded to take a much-needed
holiday and travels to Majorca with his infinitely corruptible friend, Mrs
Debbie May. For rest and refreshment, the 'Hotel Aphrodite' in Puerto de
Pollensa seems the ideal place - with the traditional ingredients of sun,
sex and sangria being enjoyed to the full. But soon the idyll is shattered
by a brutal murder on Seahorse Island, during a cruise on the pirate ship,
the 'Jolly Rioja'. The Inspector cannot resist the temptation to find the
murderer, even though the clues lead to an apparent dead end. This is more
than a busman's holiday; it is sheer escapism of the highest order!

Product Description

From the Publisher

This is the fifth in the series of detective novels featuring
the investigations of the highly unorthodox Detective-Inspector Raynes. A
must-read for all those who travel to Marjorca - although the Spanish
farmhouse night is definitely to be avoided! No wonder these stories have
been described as 'Agatha Christie with a hefty dose of testosterone!' Well
written, carefully constructed and as always with a few subtle digs at
other detective writers, the plots have been described as 'the apotheosis
of the red herring!' Ideal holiday reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Gem From David Shepherd 9 Mar 2008
Format:Paperback
Mishap in Majorca sees Raynes and his girlfriend Debbie off for a break in the sunshine isle.

However on the plane he gets into conversation with a woman and the intrigue begins.

There is a fair bit of Majorcan sightseeing involved, and a fair amount of "Sea Sun, Sangria and Sex!

Well paced and with a solid storyline, Shepherd ensures you will not want to set the book down for too long.

I am now hooked on this little series which is proving hard to come by. Have them all but one now though.

David Shepherd's novels need a little more marketing as there is no reason why they should not be in the top sellers.
