Book Description

In a world where it's unusual but men can carry children, boutique owner Kyle Gerritsen has just about managed to get his life back on an even keel after a pretty rocky couple of years when someone puts a brick through his shop window. Typical of the way his life has gone of late it’s suspected he is the latest victim of a mini crime wave in his neighbourhood and he is horrified when one of the investigating detectives assigned to his case turns out to be Jonah Goldman – otherwise known as the one night stand that has unknowingly fathered Kyle’s beloved son Shea. Kyle doesn’t know whether to be relieved or outraged when it is apparent that Jonah has no memory of their night together but knows that he needs to do everything he can to keep out of the studly detective’s way in future – especially as the gleam in the detective’s eye is all too familiar and the last time he saw it he ended up a single father! Jonah just knows that there’s something about Kyle and he’s just interested enough to ignore Kyle’s increasingly desperate attempts at rejection to try and figure out what it is.

More About the Author

Taylor Lewis lives on a small, wind swept island off the west coast of Scotland with three entitled cats and two little dogs. Interests include staying dry as much as possible (sadly, not as often as wished for) and writing happy, escapism books in a variety of genres and main focus pairings that distract the author from the diabolical weather outside the window.

This book held your interest from page 1 the characters were well rounded and like able. You wanted them to connect, by the end I was so involved I wanted the story to continue. The sex scenes were hot. I would definitely recommend this book.

Another great story for a bargain price. Good story, some great one liners and funny characters. It's a very well rounded book and I have read books three times the price which were no where near as good. Buy it because it's worth a chance at this price!

3.0 out of 5 stars A man walks into a club, hooks up and gets pregnant - you have got to read this. 22 Feb. 2014
By B ME - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a new author for me and I am glad I took the chance and got this book.

Kyle was nineteen when he hooked up with a big handsome man in a club. Jonah took him outside and rocked his young mind, and permanently changed his life forever. This is a world where a small number of men can get pregnant, and a world where the men's room condoms are not to be trusted.
Kyle had Shea and bought a boutique - he made a life for them. Then a senseless act of vandalism shakes his world apart because one of the detectives is his baby daddy, and Jonah doesn't recognise Kyle. At all. Kyle is terrified what Jonah will do if he realises they have a child together.
When Jonah is told he and Kyle hooked up at a club but Kyle hadn't told him he is furious - more so when he realises the kid is his. His reaction is violent - what Kyle doesn't realise is Jonah doesn't remember because he can't.
I liked this story from the start. It jumped right up and captured me because it is a different premise: men can get pregnant.
I was enjoying it but the two female characters are aggressive and possessive to a degree that is frustrating. And while I do like this story, it is such a good idea and so different, that I am really disappointed there was such a lack of depth to the relationship between Jonah and Kyle. There was quite a build up but we don't see the relationship develop when they start to spend time together. We don't get to see how Jonah relates to, and interacts with Shea. There was a lot of potential here to become immersed in the bonding of a child and his father - but nothing, the story jumps ahead. The same with Jonah and Kyle, nothing intimate, nothing showing the building of trust and friendship. Kyle has said they will be friends, because he doesn't think there will be anything else - but we don't see that. We are told that through the women. I just wish the author had invested more time and thought into what the story was about: the building of love between men and the story of a man claiming his child, seeking his love and learning to be a Dad.
i like the story - but it could have been so much more. I will for more by the author but will be reading the reviews before I buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful,romantic story 14 Feb. 2014

Kyle and Jonah, what a great couple! Loved them and their friends Lopez and Megan, and Shea what a Sweetie! Shea and his partner in crime Lady Ga Ga trying to steal all the junk food. I loved them all...I really want more from this author about these wonderful mismatched people. I was a little distrustful with Jonah at first, he did seem like a player. Then when you find out what he went through after meeting Kyle, well it is all explained. Great value for your money at 2154 locations and a HEA that will melt your heart! Loved it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The condom broke and Modern day male pregnancy 4 Mar. 2014

What a change of pace to see a man in this situation. Actually there is a lot of back and forth between the past and present, during which time the entire story is revealed through the eyes of the MC's as well as their closest friends. Initially it was somewhat confusing but once all the characters and their histories were sorted out the story became even more enjoyable. Thinking your hook-up forgot all about you and finding out it's literally true leads to secrets, miscommunication, lack of trust, confusion, and angry friends. When one of your biggest fears come true how do you handle it? Discovering the the type of man and father you strive to be. Finding the answers to a lot of questions about your child by finally meeting his absent father. A bittersweet realization. A strong mutual attraction while denied never went away. I definitely see myself rereading this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but needed some work 10 Mar. 2014
By Lasha - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"A Memory Away" is a cute mpreg story, but once the romance got going, the author jumped to 4 months later...and missed a great opportunity to build the tension between the two main characters and explain their love story more fully. While the book had a very interesting concept, it needed a bit more work in the execution.

A Memory Away
By Taylor Lewis

Kyle Garritsen lives in a world where some men can have children. He happens to be one. Now he is raising his son from a one-night stand and trying to live as normal a life as he can. It isn’t easy being a single father. Then someone decides to knock out the front window of his business and the officer sent to investigate is the last person Garritsen wants to see. Kyle doesn’t know if he is hurt that the detective can't remember him or scared out of his wits that the detective is going to remember and want to make a claim on the child that they share. So from this point on the action gets more intense as the detective tries to solve a crime and remember and Kyle is trying to keep the secrets of the past buried. Taylor Lewis has a real control on managing the intensity of the story and drawing the reader in. This is not my usual genre but I have to compliment Lewis on the masterful way this is written as it drew me in and held me till the end. A read that will have you drawn to the characters and their plight as you read this masterfully done story.
