This latest effort from the feelgood author E lynn Harris is up to his usual standars a rich mix of characters and stories that keep the pages turning until the end,its nice for regular readers to see the introduction of some new characters and the evolution of Harris favourite Raymond Tyler the gay lawyer now in New York City as the CEO of magazine Bling Bling,Zora the magazine editor who cannot find love but has three men for different occasions including Davis Mcclinton the billionaire head of the magazine and the man who Zora owes her career.
The story interweaves the characters and pulls in real life events such as 9/11 ,The Academy Awards into the story as Zora finds out how much power she doesnt have when the spurns the advances of Davis and he fires her, along with Ray and long time friend Basil Henderson who is also back in the story as well as demanding diva and newer Harris character Yancey Braxton. The ending is a real surprise but the feelgood in this story shines through and you know with any Harris story that nobody REALLY gets hurt it makes an entertaining diversion and great page turner.
The only criticism is that Harris may be a little too familiar with the type of story he ahs written over the last few years and the characters are good for regular readers as the evolve but it may be time to start afresh with a whole NEW set of people to play with.
