DVD Description

In 2008, a clip posted on YouTube featuring an emotional reunion between a young lion and his owners became an internet sensation. Overnight people wanted to know more about what lay behind this clip. The two men in question, Anthony ‘Ace’ Bourke and John Rendall, have published an updated bestselling version of their account of how they came to buy Christian the lion from a London department store in the late 60s. They explain how they lived with the lion whilst working in a furniture shop down the King’s Road in what was then the tail end of the swinging 60s and how they eventually came to introduce their lion into the wild under the watchful eye of lion expert, George Adamson.

For the first time this TV Special, filmed in 2009, pulls together this amazing story using up to date interviews with many of those involved in this unique story. It includes the original footage of Christian filmed in both London and Kenya, the reunion between the three and exclusive new footage of a second reunion which was to be the last time the two men would see Christian.

Exclusive DVD Extras include:
• Life at Sophistocat
• The stories behind the award winning photographs
• Readings by John and Ace
• Reactions to the YouTube sensation

Amazing Film 24 April 2009
I can't recommend this film enough. I watched this after seeing the 2 men featured on the BBC news.
Great real life story and brings a tear to the eye of the coldest of hearts.

What a heartwarming story, and so incredible. Finally puts to rest the false idea that animals do not remember individual people - of course they do, but try convincing the scientists - well, let them all watch this film! All credit to Anthony Bourke and John Rendall for caring what happened to Christian, and especially to George Adamson who ultimately was responsible for introducing Christian to a 'normal' life for a full grown African lion. I have watched this film many times and each time I am struck by the powerful bond between Christian and his two human friends.

Truly amazing 23 Jun 2009
I first saw this on TV and luckily enough videod it so that I could watch it over and over again. With digital TV looming I decided to also buy the DVD and also buy the book which was also brilliant and also provided me with lots of brilliant shots of Christian. It takes a lot to amaze me but I was truly amazed and touched by it.I have lent them both to my sons who were also truly surprised. My favourite book and DVD ever!
