As one who only came across Anthony Toner's music and lyrics very recently I was... "Blown Away by almost every track on this album."
I think his 2007 " Eventually" album is impressive..( Yes I bought it too! ) but " A light under the door " is something else .
It showcases the best of his various styles....
Tracks like" Finally" , " Still Unsigned" and "All in All" include a great use of brass .
" Way too dark " moves on wonderfully and , like most tracks , showcases Anthony's guitar prowess.
"East of Louise " is lyrically and melodically superb ... Features just Anthony on vocal and guitar.
In Summary :-
The man is compulsive listening.
Lyrics are clever, smooth and clear.
Arrangements are superb.
Musicianship is as good as I have heard.
My foot can't stop tapping !
I was lucky enough to hear him live last night in Belfast .. He is as good live as he is on recordings with a great sense of humour.
