Ive been seeing a lot of gigs this year and, quite simply, Sarah, Simon Wallace and their band are amongst the very best. Soulful,bitter-sweet and seductive and that's just the pianist. Out in front, one of the best female talents currently around, brings the depth to any lyric and captures the heart of every song. Blue chip musicians on bass and drums, you know you are in quality company.

Sarah Moule and Simon Wallace have done it again.: "It's a Nice Thought", their first album was a breath of fresh air, and paved the way to the slick, sexy album No2 "Something's gotta give"......and now they have truly moved into a world-class league with "A Lazy Kind of Love". Sarah's voice has confidence, subtlety and strength, and she complements the musicians perfectly. It is a hallmark of the Moule/Wallace partnership that they choose their musicians and their lyricists very, very carefully. It is difficult to choose my favourite tracks from this album, but "I fall in Love too easily", "I was lost" and Sarah's interpretation of "Devil may Care" all make me tingle every time I listen. A brilliant album. All lovers of jazz should add this to their collection.

I'm rather biased, I have to say here, because I've seen Ms Moule live with a jazz trio and in a duet with her hubby/producer/composer Simon Wallace on piano...in both cases, they turned out to be gigs to remember. Sarah's voice is astonishingly warm and serene, with gorgeous melodies and lyrical soulful wit and wisdom pouring out from the tracks...and on this her third album, you get all of that, plus witty soulful lyrics to boot....you'll be lost in dreamland with "I was lost", beguiled by The Flowers and The Wine, taken to jazz heartland by the opening title track (co-written by one Ms Julie Burchill!), and will adore the almost Peggy Lee meets Blossom Dearie feel of "I fall in love too easily" with airy sax augmenting the gentle lush sound of the Simon Wallace trio....my favourites of all are the tricksy uptempo The Secret of Silence, with some shakuhachi appearing courtesy of Clive Bell, and the seriously catchy Living In Overdrive...
This is an album to enjoy and smile with and to...with songs by Simon Wallace and respected lyricist Fran Landesman, plus one by Clive James/Pete Atkin amongst others, I put it on today and even the sun came out!
