4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting curio 2 Jan 2011
Four 25 minute plays by Roy Russell and produced by Southern Television. I enjoyed them, and if you make allowances for their studio-bound setting and some wobbly sets, they were a pleasant way to spend an evening. Apart from the house itself, nothing else links each story, which is a shame, as I would have liked to have had an overall narrative arc. On the whole, the acting and direction was good, and it reminds you of a never-to-return age when ITV took a few risks and did things differently. Worth the price, and there were no sound or lip-sync problems on my copy. Treat yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and well crafted. 25 Sep 2010
Quite typical of studio-based productions of the 1970's. Bursting with well-known faces.
Very sweet likeable stories well acted.
I don't believe that the other reviewer could have been watching the same release. Also, there were no sound sync problems!

1.0 out of 5 stars One star too much! 11 Mar 2009
This is a very poorly written story covering the fate of a house over many years. It would have been much better had links been provided between the four different story-lines. To make matters worse, the synchronization between sound and movement is way out, making people's mouth movement out of line with their speech. To sum up - don't waste your money on this rubbish!
