There is nothing like a Steven Seagal film except another Steven Seagal film. In this film Seagal introduces himself through some philosophical dialogue to let us know how deep and complex he is, unlike his movies. He plays Alexander, the "White Ghost" a mercenary out to kill arms dealer Chen (Tzi Ma). After an unsuccessful attempt in "Dagestan," Seagal is in an unnamed Eastern European nation (Bucharest, Romania) living next door to a beautiful girl Lena (Iulia Verdes) who happens to be the sister of Russian mafia strong arm collector (Victor Webster). Seagal lives a low key life as the building super by day.... Bodies of the Russian mafia litter the street with limbs cut off and oriental symbols drawn by them...Oh who could be doing that?

The plot is straight forward, except for that one thing we see coming. Seagal goes after the bad guys while attempting to save the girl and her sister too. Grindhouse style action, music, and fast speed fighting for Seagal. Some scenes are poorly dubbed, others use English subtitles when they speak English for emphasis (?) and sometimes they speak Russian with no subtitles. They shouldn't allow drinking in the editing room.

4 stars on the Seagal scale.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, stripper nudity. An odd bar where some strippers wear pasties and some do not.

What's The Story.
When notorious special ops soldier Alexander loses a Chinese target in a botched mission, he decides to quit the business & try to lead a normal life, going off the grid & finding work as a handyman.

When one of his clients gets caught up with an infamous Russian gangster Alexander vows to protect them at all costs as he realises that he has entered into the middle of a war between rival Russian & Chinese gangs, he sees his opportunity to finally bring his once lost target to justice.

Timelord Thoughts.
Ok Steven Seagal movies aren't what they used to be, gone are the day's of classics like Out For Justice, Marked For Death & Under Siege as Seagal seems content to churn out average - dire straight to DVD outings, although his recent movies Driven To Kill & Maximum Conviction have seen Seagal more engaged in his movies by doing the majority of the fight scenes himself & haven't had poor dubbing that hampered many of Seagals DTV movies.

A Good Man is another a half decent Seagal action movie that features none of the awful dubbing & sees Seagal far more engaged in the movie who performs the majority of the fight scenes himself & although the use of doubles are used in various points throughout the film it didn't really hamper my enjoyment.

Yes we've seen Steven Seagal play this role many times before & he always play the same character type over & over again but that's why his fans love watching his movies as with a Seagal movie you know what to expect whether it's a good or bad action movie.

OK, I should know what I'm getting with a Seagal film by now, but somehow I live in hope that one of them will at least equal Under Siege. Hopes were well and truly dashed with this one. Truly awful, and what a shame that film funding can be found for crass stuff like this when there are so many good stories, actors and writers out there whose work never sees the light of day.

With a bandana, bright check scarve, bulge hiding raincoat and bizarrely a sensible pair of spectacle's. Seagal decends upon the hideout like a pink elephant.
We know what we are getting, at least the story makes sense, a deserving of death bad guy, quick look in the stripper bar, lots of unworthy oponents.
He's made a lot worse.

Another great Steven 'Shovel face' Seagal comedy! Big fat guy somehow gets into a Special Ops Team and saves the day. Produced by old Fatty himself - this is yet another comic romp by ( Yeah, big surprise he produced it) Seagal. Five stars because I love watching his 'So Bad That It's Good' BS. Overacting, crappy coolness, phoney philosophy it's all here! Plus I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that Kelly LeBrock married this twit instead of me! Highly recommended for the nonsense that it is.

despite the mixed reviews i absolutely loved this film.yes it does have some minor flaws but which film these days doesnt.again writer and director keoni waxman and seagal form a really good partnership.after there recent outings.a dangerous man/maximum conviction/force of execution.theres no doubt they work well together.seagal plays alexander ex-special ops now a handy man trying to find crime lord mr chen played very well by tzi ma.in the process of finding mr chen he comes up against some russians who are working for chen.caught in the middle are sascha played by victor webster who looks like he did all his own fights and stunts and i thought was very impressive to watch considering i have never heard of him.also involved are his family who are held for ransom.along comes hero seagal who looks like he did his own fight scenes in the film.but its clear to see every back of the head shot of seagal walking was his stand in chris whitelaw or glenn ennis.still to figuare that one out?.neverless despite seagals half a beard which he had in force of execution was on top form and i got to say over the last 5 or 6 yrs seagal has been on top form with his films and when you compare them to the awful attack force and flight of fury its a vast improvement.overall i loved this film and one of seagals best films to date as far as i am concerned.but thats my opinion.its violent/bloody and there are some well choreographed fight scenes.definately for seagal fans.i am one of them.
