Very sweet biography of a woman in the highlands of scotland and a byegone era. How we used to live and maybe finding what is important in life. This little book opens a door onto the life of hardwork and few expectations, but fullfilment all the same. Maybe we should try harder to find happiness with less?

Felt like it was more like a manual for Gardeners. The different types of plants were named and described what they can be used for but since I am not in to making nettle soup etc. I did not enjoy the book.

a perfectly pleasant book with some lovely bits of description but I found it a little thin and that is the reason for the low, possibly unfair rating.
