Reviews

Sex-comedy set in the world of the New York gay community. After yet another lost night bowing to his desire for easy sex, porn-shop owner Luke (Jesse Archer) decides it's time to settle into a 'serious' relationship. Finally embracing monogamy, he hooks up with super-hunk Stephen (Charlie David) who seems to satisfy his every need. But Stephen's criticism of Luke's wild lifestyle counts for nothing when Luke discovers that Stephen's talents stem from his professional past.

Four Letter Word is a laugh from start to finish. I enjoyed it so much that I was hoping that a series could have been made. Maybe in time there will be.
All the actors are great and Jesse Archer is such a likable guy and his part in the movie is so lively that you feel as if you are there with him in all his escapades in gay clubs and his little touch up with the lip gloss is so unique to him and then you feel for him when he falls for this louse of a guy played by Charlie David. I never like to give the plot away when writing about movies and I always say go and see the movie and form your own opinion on it but for me Casper Andreas and Jesse Archer get it right every time and I have yet to see one of their movies that I have had negative thoughts about.

I am giving 2 stars, 'cause I managed to watch the movie without taking a break :)
It is full of cliches, the characters are really as thin as a piece of paper. Is it really so hard to shoot a good gay movie? Without: all the drama queens, people pretending that they are able to play, unrealistic plot?
Gay life isn't all about sex, fooling around, drinking and cheating.

the dialogue was quite poor, the acting mediocre, the clichés abundant, and the storyline quite weak.

There seems to be a tendency these days to produce movies with a story, but no plot, and this is one of them. Jesses Archer plays a salesman in a porn shop, who has no steady relationship and spends all his nights looking for sex. Enter Charlie David who takes up with him, until Archer finds out that he is a hustler, after which the story dies.
The best performances are from the obligatory female and the mixed race couple who seem to be "perfect" to everyone else, but who have issues of their own.
Archer overacts as a stereotype queen, but David doesn't act atall. In fact, after the performances I have seen him give, (Dante's Cove and Mulligans as well as this one) I wonder why he gets acting jobs atall.

Well it was quite pretty to watch and I certainly did manage to stay awake, but somehow somewhere along the way I missed what it was all about. Entertaining and it passed a couple of hours but I wouldn't watch it again.
