This book has a particular place in my heart because it was the first novel I ever tried to write over twenty years ago. It's been rewritten several times since then - and it needed it! - but it's still essentially the same story I first dreamed up.
This book has a particular place in my heart because it was the first novel I ever tried to write over twenty years ago. It's been rewritten several times since then - and it needed it! - but it's still essentially the same story I first dreamed up.
It's a regency romance but my heroine is a 'northern lady'. I grew tired of historical romances where the heroines all seemed to come from the south of England. So Cassie Trent is an outspoken northerner (as I am myself, even though I live in Australia now) whose impulsiveness can sometimes lead her into trouble and who falls in love with the wrong man.
I could see her so clearly, even when I was a novice writer, and she hasn't changed in character. But the way I tell her story has changed greatly - because there's nothing like practice if you want to learn a complex skill like writing novels.
I hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Cheers from down under
