Is this a travel guide for people who like football or a football guide for travelling people? It falls in a huge hole inbetween. Too little info on travelling to the clubs - "how to get to stadium - walkable from station" - is hardly a handy directional guide for instance. Too many irrelevant photos and lots of facts that have not been researched.

THe top 3 things to do for each destination area good idea but to consider in Ukraine one of them is to "marry a mail order bride" falls short of both reality and comedy. Or to suggest that the third best thing to do in Villarreal is to "visit Valencia" is again poor.

I get the feeling that most of this information is second hand and has not been researched by the authors.

I love travelling and think this will be great for exploring grounds around Europe. I've been spending quite a bit of time flicking through it looking for a interesting place to visit - Estonia looks pretty cool. It's useful for that but it's been fun to read as well, which is pretty rare for a sports book.

I must admit I was disappointed with this book. I recently went to Madrid and the information I could have found in any guide book, apart possibily from how to get to the stadium. Usually this could be found on the club's web site
No mention of hotels or bars near the stadiums, in fact only two bars were recommended for the whole of Madrid.
The Rough Guide to European Football is much more informitive but sadly out of print and out of date (2000 - 2001)
Sorry but I would not recommend this book for the traveling football fan.

Beautiful Guide for a Beautiful Game 30 Jun. 2011
By David P. Craig - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I'm planning a trip with my son next summer to go to England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France to see some of our favorite teams play soccer and visit some great sites along the way as well. This book has great pictures, and is clear and concise in its information. I have six different books I've been using to do research for our trip - this one is the most pleasing for the eyes - a lot of beautiful pictures of the stadiums, cities, and ambience to get you excited to visit your favorite European teams - we can't wait to go - and looking through this book makes the wait even more difficult. I highly recommend this!
