About the Author
Tracey Corderoy A primary school teacher by trade Tracey was inspired to begin her writing career three years ago when she implemented literacy programmes for children returning to school following periods of long-term illness. She became passionate about writing for children, convinced that language, expressed through wonderful literature, is the key that stimulates learning and imagination. Tracey's children's books have been published all over the world and she recently won the Hillingdon Picture Book Award. Sophie Allsopp Sophie grew up in Hong Kong where she particularly enjoyed living in a hotel and going to school on a tram. After studying for her illustration degree in Bath, Sophie won several awards, including a travel bursary from the Royal Society of Art and was awarded a grant from the Prince of Wales Trust to set up her illustration business. Sophie has been illustrating for almost twenty years for a wide range of clients, based all over the world.

This book is such a tender moment, with language and storyline that go straight to the heart. I found myself unexpectedly verklempt, right there in the bookstore.

Saw this book at a book sale and decided to first check it out of our local library, see how much I liked it before buying.
I have read it to my 7 year old son twice now and both times, he listens intently, then drifts off to sleep (could be boredom, but think it's more of the tender story line).
This is a great story, with a tender lesson about friendship.
We love the winter (being New Englanders and all) so a story about snow, and a surprising flower in the snow, fits perfectly for us!
I plan to buy the book for us, to have always, as well as a few friends that are teachers, as this is a great story and when read with a tender tone, delivers such love and care to the little ones...

"A Flower in the Snow" is one of the best books for children I have seen in the past year. Not only are the illustrations fully colored and full page, but the pictures match the story perfectly. In this story, the illustrator has done a phenomenal job of showing the emotion of the characters through the expressions on their faces. This is a book that I definitely wish to add to the collection of books I have for my children. There is a good message in this book about the bond of friendship that I think parents will appreciate. The little girl is adorable and someone I think kids could identify with. I also liked that this book shows a child that anyone can persevere. Even the flower was able to grow in the snow, which may open up discussion topics with your child. Overall, this book is well deserving of five stars. Perfect book for a child.
