It would help prospective downloaders if a clear description was given pointing out that ALL PLATES have been omitted from Kindle version. Interesting reading but nothing to refer to in way of Star Charts.

What they forgot to mention is that all the plates of stars, i.e. what you were looking for seem to have been removed from the Kindle version!

No illustrations/plates 31 May 2011
By Kathect - Published on Amazon.com

The illustrations or plates are left out of the Kindle edition.
There is a lot of great information and specific locations in this book. With a map of the appropriate season and hemisphere, I think you could pair this and the map and accomplish some stargazing.

A Field Book of he Stars 21 Aug 2011
By Levi Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have been interested in Astronomy for a long time. This book is filled with great information regardingg the stars and different constellations. Unfortunately there are no plates or maps to go along with what is being said. With maps or plates of the different constellation would make the book a 4 or 5 rating on my list.

Free, short and somewhat lacking 29 Mar 2012

To immediately point it out again: There are no star charts in this version of the book!
Either you are an accomplished stargazer and do not need the charts (and I fear this book) or you will have to acquire some charts along with this book.
In any case, this book, especially on an e-reader on which one could easily load interactive star-maps, is somewhat of a curiosity and a reminder of a pre-digital age. Viewed at such it does quite well in my opinion, providing well-worded, mnemonic advice for stargazers and a good summary of stellar names and where they came from.
