Format: Hardcover
i went along to the exhibition opening of A Family in Wartime at the Imperial War Museum last week and what a delight. The model house that is on show there is amazing. i bought the book at the museum bookshop as it ties in with the exhibition, and just really like the way that the story of the Allpress Family is put together with photos of them throughout the war and after. You learn so much more of how a family lived during that time in the book - it covers everything from pre-war times, the blitz, wartime food rations and even a chapter on fashion during that time. Am enjoying dipping into the book and learning about something different each time.

Format: Hardcover
This is one of those books that manages to be both informative yet moving. Reading about how a normal family dealt with the day to day difficulties of wartime life was very affecting, and along with the evocative posters, photographs and World War 2 artefacts reproduced inside, this book creates a poignant and extraordinary account of life for families living during the Second World War. First class.

A beautifully written and presented accompaniment to the new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has been or is thinking of going.
