Tigran, thank you for inviting me into your dream-like world... 5 April 2012
By Sebastian - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This album is unlike anything else out there. Surely, all artists impart their own individuality onto their music, but, in this respect, Tigran is in a class of his own. All of the songs teem with emotion, and each song is expertly crafted and blended, with really subtle attention being paid to both tempo and rhythm. It's jazzy, classical, and folksy all at once. Hence the title of the album, I suppose. Some of the hooks are melodious and sweet while others are existential and dreary -- a bipolarity that we can all relate to. Also, he's willing to occasionally sing along, in his native language as well as in the universal language of diddly-doos and chants. In my opinion, "Rain Shadow" starts things off quite seductively, it's very welcoming and weird, "The Spinners" keeps the movement fresh and new while introducing a mantra-esque quality to the album, and "The Legend of the Moon" signals the beginning of the end in the best possible way. These are my three favorites, and the space between them is just right. But all the songs are great and the entire album is complete.

Buy this album. If you like jazz, are self-reflective, and piano particularly strikes your soul as it does mine, you will undoubtedly be pleased!

Fresh and Inspiring 2 Jun. 2014

This album is an amazingly fresh approach to improvisation with elements of jazz and Armenian folk rhythms and scales. Tigran is a master pianist and has so much to say in the field of contemporary improvised music. You MUST get this album.
Tiger at the Piano 11 May 2014
By Michael E. Nader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Tigran has been discovered by the French. Now we have to discover him as well. He is a talented piano player. Not just jazz. Not just classical. Not just pop. Not just rock. But everything, and all of it. At moments he channels the American composer Alan Hovhaness, at other times the jazz piano of Tommy Flanagan. Then he's an Armenian chanteuse. Tigran is not, most certainly NOT, just a jack of all style but a master of them as well. This CD is his show off talent, his trip to all the piano styles currently available. But intelligently done. Tres bien, Tigran.

Amazing album with a multitude of influences present. An interesting blend of jazz, Armenian folk, as well as classical aspects. No drums on any of the tracks which gives the album an intimate feel to it.
