Book Description

11 July 2008
When Marion Hemming accepts an invitation to spend the Christmas holidays in Switzerland with an old classmate from her boarding school days, she's on the brink of doubting her marriage. She never suspects that the seemingly innocent invitation is part of her husband's plan to involve her in a bitter power struggle which includes unanticipated treachery and leads her into uncertain partnerships and liasons. From a luxurious, forboding house in the Swiss mountains to London's room eleven on the eleventh floor of a hotel, A Dangerous Weakness catches Marion up in a breathless chase which brings her full-circle to the realities of love and one woman's strength.

2.0 out of 5 stars Certainly Can't Tell A Book By Its Cover 21 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Well, what a disappointment this book was. I only choose books which are recommended in magazines etc and must admit did think that behind the impressive front cover would be a story of intrigue and page turning thrills and spills. What I actually experienced was page after page of boring verse with nothing to keep the reader interested in any way whatsoever. I was determined to finish the book just in case it got better but of course it never did and the ending was certainly not worth waiting for.

Hopefully there might be someone out there who can give a better account of this book and I would like to know what I was missing!

2.0 out of 5 stars a dangerous weakness 5 Oct 2008
Format:Paperback
Wasn't sure if this was meant to be a spoof or not. It was supposedly written to be set in the present day but had a very post WW11 feel to it. The names used were not modern day names, ie Betsey, Marion (aka Em), Bill, Dorothy and Dora. Also descriptions of the fashions were not current, women in their early 30's in the modern day do not wear twin sets and tweed skirts and call each other 'dear', nor do they pull on 'pale blue slacks'. It reminded me of the Audrey Hepburn/Cary Grant film 'Charade'. I found it to be a light hearted story with little substance but fairly enjoyable
