From 1963 through to the mid-70’s, the Hollies had more hits than the Beatles. In that period alone, they had 17 Top ten hits, while “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” gave them a second No 1 hit when re-released in 1988. “I’m Alive” had been their first chart topper back in 1965. At the heart of the band since 1963 are two original members, ... Read more in Amazon's Hollies Store

5.0 out of 5 stars a very good underrated hollies disc. 13 Aug 2012
Format:Audio CD
The cover was a bad one featuring a soft drink machine. But the cd itself is just excellent. I have the version from the boxset and it's the same as this one. Songs like 'what am I gonna do' are haunting works of moodiness that still sound great. This one is just as good as all the hollies seventies output and it's stronger than the next one for sure. The general feel here is very melodic pop rock; but it's the hollies and they were masters of this type of music. This one is a must for pop rock fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLARKE,SYLVESTER,AND HICKS SWAN SONG 23 Jun 2007
By David Insinga - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
this album was the last one written mostly by this incarnation of the hollies and it is one, if not their best. the songs: writting on the wall ,what am i gonna do,hello to romance feature some fine vocal and musical performances by the hollies.the song feet on the ground is such a great overlooked song it really is a shame.this new 2007 release of the album sounds better then ever.if you are a fan of the hollies this album should not be missed.the hollies really were a great band and these 70s albums.
are just as good if not better than the albums from the 60's.this was not the final cd by this incarnation just the last one written by the band.

4.0 out of 5 stars i wish i understood the cover 19 July 2010
By Mark Schlesinger - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Mellow but very pretty late-period Hollies, typically glorious harmony vocals and a few nice Terry Sylvester solos. I especially enjoy "What Am I Gonna Do" and "Hello To Romance" (Goodbye to those one night stands). "Boulder To Birmingham" is a nice bluesy ballad, reminiscent of "Gasoline Alley Bred". "Caracas" is flavored by latin jazz, and the car song "Burn Out" is the closest thing to a real rocker. This album is not as dated as those that came after. The Hollies were just elected into the Hall of Fame, and it's about time!
